I'm going to level with all of you, I just found out about this and I'm about to wrap up packing before going to Denver. I don't know anything about this room or how these speakers sound but they look cool as can be! It is room 7125 at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest and the person who owns and runs MC Audiotech has to be one of the nicest guys in the industry. Going to his room to meet him already makes the trip worth it! They will be spinning a VPI Prime Signature, stay tuned as I learn more about the rest of the room and how these babies sound! Thanks to Lee Shelly Photography for this picture I stole off of his Facebook Page!
At Rocky Mountain Audio Fest 2019, PS Audio will present our latest state-of-the-art components in the Homestead 2 room at the new Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center. The demo system will feature the final pre-production prototypes of the PS Audio AN3 speakers. The configuration and driver complement of the AN3 have been completely revised from the prototype shown at Axpona earlier this year. In the latest iteration, all drivers, crossovers, DSP, crossover and amplification were designed by Chris Brunhaver, Senior Loudspeaker Design Engineer at PS, and are custom-built exclusively for PS. The AN3 features coaxial planar magnetic midrange and tweeter drivers, bespoke midbass coupler and woofer/subwoofer drivers with massive magnet assemblies and state-of-the-art inert cone assemblies, with the subwoofer driven by a built-in 700-watt amplifier. Our own DSP program aids installation in any room. The cabinet has been divided into two assemblies (mid/tweeter and midbass/sub-bass/amp/DSP) for ease of shipping and assembly. MSRP of the AN3 has yet to be determined, but we expect the $15-20k range. The AN series is based upon the work of our friend and mentor Arnie Nudell, and will eventually include 3 models. The AN3 will be the smallest and least expensive, followed by the AN2 and AN1. The AN1 will be a massive line-source loudspeaker designed as the ultimate expression of Arnie's work, and a fitting replacement for and successor to the Infinity IRS Vs, which have served as our reference loudspeakers for years. There will also be three models of Stellar loudspeakers, designed to emulate the sound quality of the AN series, at lower price-points. Lead designer Chris Brunhaver will be present to answer questions regarding the AN3s and other upcoming speakers. We'll also be playing records through the new Stellar Phono Preamp. Lead designer, Senior Analog Engineer Darren Myers will be on hand to answer questions about the unit, which features all discrete FET circuitry, passive RIAA equalization, a massive power supply, and variable loading for moving coil cartridges. Here's the complete RMAF demo system: Paul McGowan's hand-tweaked Mac Mini as digital source PS Audio DirectStream DAC (US MSRP $5999) PS Audio Stellar Phono Preamp (US MSRP $2499) PS Audio BHK Signature Preamplifier (US MSRP $5999) PS Audio BHK Signature 300 Mono Amplifiers, x 2 (US MSRP $7499 each) PS Audio P20 Power Plant Regenerators x 2 (US MSRP $9999 each) PS Audio P15 Power Plant Regenerator (US MSRP $7499) PS Audio AN3 loudspeakers (Final pre-production prototypes, US MSRP TBD) VPI HW-40 turntable (US MSRP $14,999) Miscellaneous PS Audio Power cords Link to hi-res photos of PS Audio products, including the Stellar Phono Preamp: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/txhil64utn2aqno/AADFLcwFB5h3gV_U1J63wl-ua?dl=0 Hi-res photos of the AN3 prototypes are not available---sorry. Attendees will be able to submit audio-related questions to Paul, just as in his popular YouTube Ask Paul series---only live, and in person.
Also not static:analog guru Michael Fremer will be spinning some very special discs right in our room, using the new Stellar Phono Preamp and a VPI HW-40turntable: Friday and Saturday at 2;30 PM, and Sunday at 11:00 AM. Make sure to swing by Room 6105 at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest to hear the HW-40 Anniversary Turntable with our dealer/partner Listen-Up. They will have Classe Sigma 2200i integrated, the 40th Anniversary Focal Spectral’s MOON 610lp and more! Moon gear has always been a VPI paired favorite and electronics that are always ready for demo at the VPI House. Other items in the room may include a pair of B&W 804D3’s and a pair of REL subs! But you will have to stop by the room to find out for sure. The HW-40 will be mounted the Audio Technica Art-1000. On the digital side, they will be running the NEW Roon Nucleus. Cable and power distribution will all be Audioquest.
See you all out in Denver! VPI has been excited to demonstrate the Raidho TD4.2 in the VPI House but even more excited to be part of this exciting debut of their Raidho TD2.2 at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest! From the good people at Raidho: Time for the next step in the evolution – introducing the Raidho TD2.2. Visit Us in Room 10134 We are extremely proud to introduce the new TD2.2 to the world. This model carries on the legacy of the well-acclaimed D2.1, and taking the beautiful exterior to the next level. The TD2.2 is our bid for the new benchmark in it´s class, and we are certain that it will surprise audiophiles around the world when they hear, what this compact floorstander can do. After months of hard work, the initial tuning of the TD2.2 are finished, and it follows the rest of the new TD-series with the use of our new, in-house developed, in-house built, patented driver with one of the strongest underhung systems in the world with 1.1 tesla in the gap. The drivers use our new 5-layer Tantalum-Diamond cone with higher inner damping, and a new, proprietary, edgewound titanium voicecoil. To fit our new tech to the cabinets, we had to change everything inside to create optimal airflow, remove unwanted reflections, and eliminate distortion caused by the typical limitations in cabinetdesigns. The TD2.2 is a 2 ½ way system based on our new TD quasi-ribbon tweeter which was first introduced in the topmodel, TD4.8. The tweeter already were a world class tweeter, but by running through the design and optimizing the acoustic shape of the rear chamber, we achieved to lower the distortion, which was already very low, by a staggering 35 dB, and at the same time increasing the sensitivity by 3 dB. These technical design-changes made it possible to match the tweeter with the extreme sensitivity, that our new drivers holds. With careful design of the new crossover, which is built in hand and hardwired with topclass components, the initial trimming of the TD2.2, has given us a speaker that measures at a record low distortion-level, and it´s audible immediately after pushing play. Due to the higher efficiency in the whole system, the TD2.2 also is an easy load for any amplifier, and they will unleash all the potential from your electronics. The TD2.2 is the natural full-size step-up from the TD1.2, and it will deliver a dynamic, natural, and extremely musical performance. This, while at the same time moving the limits for powerhandling in an elegant and still compact floorstanding speaker. The TD2.2 is the floorstanding answer for those seeking the signature-sound from the TD-series, but keeping it in a compact and elegant design with great attention to detail, both visual and technical. This a reference-product giving a true-to-life sound with an almost limitless soundstage, allowing the speakers to disappear, and putting the music in focus. We present to you the Raidho Acoustics TD2.2 - This is the speaker for the music-lover. VPI is excited and proud to be providing an HW-40 Direct Drive Anniversary turntable with mounted Van den Hul cartridge for Raidho's introduction! This has been a combination that has had fantastic synergy with great sound in the VPI House.
