VPI Legacy Turntable Collection
HW Series (Original Product Line)
HW-9 (1978)In the late 70’s Harry Weisfeld started creating accessory components for his Audiophile hobby. One of those accessories was the HW-9 isolation base which was made specifically for the Denon DP-75 with a mounted gimbal tonearm.
HW-19 (1980)The original isolation base and turntable platter produced by VPI back in 1980. This table started it all for the growing company. The platter was solid aluminum, without the usual hollowed-out bottom, and a 1/8"-thick by 2"-wide band of lead is cemented to the platter's underside.
HW-19 MK-2 (1983)The HW-19 MK2 was the next evolution in the VPI product line where Harry moved away from aluminum and switch the platter to black or clear acrylic. Since this is something that has been switched back to aluminum platter for later/current VPI models the question is, why did he do it?
HW-19 MK-3 (1985)The HW-19 Mk. III is the logical next step in the progression towards realistic musical reproduction. All the weak points of the Jr. are addressed in the Mk. III. Better yet, the improvements incorporated in the Mk. III are available as upgrades to the Jr. Like with all VPI tables was backwards compatible.
HW-19 MK-4 (1998)For improved bass, imaging, focus, detail, and lower noise, the answer is the Mk IV. The HW-19 Mk.IV turntable includes the same wood base, precision AC-Synchronous motor/pulley/belt drive assembly, and stainless steel-acrylic sub-chassis as the Mk. III.
VPI HW-19 JR (1993)The beginning of the journey into High-End analog music reproduction starts with the HW-19 Jr. The Jr. is VPI's most cost effective turntable. It combines the drive system of the MK. III & MK. IV, with a cost effective platter and subchassis, to give real value for the dollar.

TNT Series (First Reference Product Line)
TNT (1986)TNT was designed as a state of the art table to take advantage of the newly designed linear tracking air-bearing tonearms represented by the Eminent Technology, Souther, and Airtangent. Ultimate goal was to be VPI's first effort at a High End Reference level turntable!
TNT 2 (1988)With the improvements of American manufacturing, the TNT MK 2 was a more refined version of the original TNT. The pulleys were made larger with higher precision bearings with tolerances that were tighter than previous VPI turntable models.
TNT 3 (1992)With the improvements of American manufacturing, the TNT MK 2 was a more refined version of the original TNT. The pulleys were made larger with higher precision bearings with tolerances that were tighter than previous VPI turntable models. (Anyone have a decent picture of one?)
