Weekend update from my living room: I finally dialed in a small home theater, and the sub woke up a bunch of things I didn’t know could make noise—interior door starts buzzing on certain notes, the window panes chatter during action scenes, and even a picture frame hums a little. I’m not trying to rebuild the room, just want to kill the rattles without ruining the vibe. Has anyone actually fixed low-frequency buzz from doors and glass? What worked first—seals, adding mass, swapping to laminated glass, or just moving the sub?

Skimming this thread as a neutral bystander: a quick way to triage is the “finger test” and painter’s tape. Play the scene that rattles, gently press on suspect spots (door center, pane edges, picture frames). If it stops, you’ve found the loose interface. A bit of foam tape behind frames, felt on cabinet doors, and tightening hardware often kills half the noises. Then chase the big paths—door undercut and window gaps. Also try a 5 dB trim on the lowest EQ band and a small crossover tweak; you keep impact without exciting every resonance in the room.
