Anybody else encountering tremendous static electric charges building between the record and platter? I'm finding it happening, more frequently with new records, on occasion. I have to pry up the record, the attraction is so great, and the sparks that jump are not doing my system any good. Why is the platter not grounded? Maybe there is there an issue of aluminum always having a non-conductive oxide surface? Do I have find a carbon fiber mat and rig a grounding brush on it's edge?

No static issues at all with my Prime Signature here in the UK. I have a simple home-made grounding cable from my tonearm junction box into my phono stage, a Gold Note PH10 with its power through the matching PS10 power supply
