I’m selling a few furniture pieces online and keep getting super low offers. I don’t want to come off as rude, but I also don’t want to give things away. Tips?

Pricing and negotiating on peer-to-peer marketplaces really is an art. I’ve learned to expect a few absurd offers before finding a decent buyer. When I sold my coffee table, someone offered me $5 for it, no joke. After that, I checked places like https://facebook-marketplace.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html just to see what kinds of trends or frustrations others were having. It helped me realize it's not personal; it's just how the platform works. If you're selling something nice, don't be afraid to wait.
Be polite but assertive. I usually respond with, “Thanks for your offer, but I’m hoping for something closer to the asking price.” If they ghost you, they weren’t serious anyway. It’s part of the game, especially in local marketplaces where everyone thinks they’re a master negotiator.
