Hello Guys:
This is kind of a funny post. I have an older Avenger and I did not like the feet so I used some Still Point Ultra 5 V2's as feet. When I tap the shelf the table rests on I can still hear that light thumping sound if the stylus is on a record. I had same issue with my previous Prime. May I ask if that is normal or are there better feet that will eliminate that (short of the really expensive pnumatic feet)? Thoughts or don't worry about it?
Best,
Mike in Austin
In the world of analog playback, the tapping of the platform shelf is quite a violent event which rarely happens during vinyl playback. In most instances, it not the footers, but the support shelf that's the problem. Have you tried an isolation platform, or a more robust dense top plate? Stillpoints are excellent footers, but they re not designed to filter out that level of energy. To do so effectively, you would need something compliant, like springs or an elastomer. What rack are you using?
Hi Mike. I have the pneumatic feet on my AD. I'll give the platform a tap sometime today and get back to you. I know you asked about alternatives, but now you've got me wondering how well these bladder boys do!
