can i install a MC cartridge on VPI Player? would i need a phono amp or will the built in phono amp do?

The VPI Player’s built-in phono amp is designed for MM cartridges, so if you install an MC cartridge, you’ll need an external phono preamp that supports MC or a step-up transformer. Stimulation Clicker
You might be able to use a lomc step up transformer.
Hi Monjay. The VPI Player phono stage has 35dB of gain, so it is unsuitable for a low or medium output MC cartridge. You’d have to turn off that phono stage *instructions should be in the manual) and then you’d be able to use an external phono stage with the needed gain.
