I live in Jacksonville and my refrigerator suddenly stopped cooling yesterday. The light is on but it’s not getting cold at all. I’m worried about food going bad. Is this usually something serious or can it be repaired quickly?

Most of the time this is not a “dead fridge” situation. In Jacksonville heat, it can be a thermostat issue, clogged coils, or compressor starting problems. I’d avoid rushing to replace it. Call a technician first, because many cases are fixable in one visit. I had a similar issue and used Appliance Repair in Florida — they checked everything on site, found a simple fault, and got it cooling again the same day.
