I've spent the last few years rolling out RFID tracking for clients ranging from construction depots to IT equipment stores. The technology itself is solid, but a pattern keeps repeating: people choose readers and tags without first mapping out how their rfid asset tracking software will consume that data. A common mistake is buying high-end fixed readers when a mix of handhelds and mobile scanning would have been more practical for the actual workflows. I've also seen teams invest heavily in passive UHF tags only to realise their metal shelving makes them almost unreadable unless you switch to on-metal variants.
