JMW 10 Tonearm Height Adjustment on Classic 1
I have a Classic 1 with the motor in the back left corner. It has the JMW 10 arm, and a non-height adjustable base. Even in its lowest position, the arm is just barely level with no mat on the platter, and there's no way I can get it into a "tail down" position. It seems odd to me that the table/arm combo would be designed this way, since there is no VTA adjustability except for "tail up". I know how to adjust the height of the arm, and I also have the bushing adjusted as high as it will go in the arm, effectively lowering its position. Anyone know of another way to adjust this arm, or is there a workaround if some sort? I know I can shim the cartridge (or use a mat), but I don't prefer either of these approaches, and it doesn't seem like they should be necessary. The cartridge is a SS Zephyr Mk II, but this is the case with other cartridges I've had on the table as well.
Thanks! Tom
