Platter at half speed, bad motor?
I have an Aries with a single flywheel motor. The platter is now turning at about half speed. I have quite a bit of vibration in the drive belts between the motor shaft and the flywheel. I replaced the drive belts, lubricated the motor and flywheel, and tried a different AC source. No change. Do you think the motor has gone bad? Scott Smith

It does sound like the motor could be the culprit, especially since new belts and lubrication didn’t help. If the vibration is still strong and the platter stays slow, the motor is likely weakening the Saturn in Aries or failing under load.
