I always have a touch of caution when asked this just because I don't know the finer details of Linn. That being said, our SDS and ADS have been used with multiple other turntable brands and has even been mentioned in some reviews as fixing speed issues for other brands. It should be able to help you out!

Hey Kevin, Sorry for the late response. The height of the female bearing will depend on the cartridge height and whether you have an oil bath well or no bath at all. In our experience, the cartridge height and setup are usually the biggest factors affecting the bearing height. Most of the time, you can make all the necessary VTA adjustments with the VTA on-the-fly. However, if you need more adjustment range, you can fine-tune it by raising or lowering the female bearing. Ultimately, the height should allow for some free side-to-side motion without anything making contact. If that’s unclear, it might be time for a video to explain it better. 😊

Hey Don, that sometimes happens due to moisture and humidity. In minor cases applying heat can make the vinyl re-take its form. Otherwise, we are working on options for trade in/replacement chassis for when this happens. The long and the short of it has been a combination medical and personal issues with VPI Office staff that and in the past the forum was almost more customer run. When the forum went down a lot of the diehard posters went elsewhere or to the Facebook page (which we understand not everyone is on Facebook). My newer team members don't have the deeper level of training and experience yet and my main point man who was ready to breath life back into the forum was in a motorcycle accident last month. So essentially it has just been me (Mat) and trying to do the best I can while we get things squared away. The future events we have coming as well as the children at home keep me going in many directions! The best for now is to fire us an email but the goal is to get communication and activity on all fronts. Thanks for the post and we will keep pushing to bring our best to the VPI Family.

Hey James, I think we got you on the back end with the emails. But just for good measure for anyone else with the same question, the original Prime came with a Unipivot 3D. Around 2018 we started to make the gimbal an option and noticed a lot of special requests for orders to go out with gimbals. For the 21 series we flipped the script and made the gimbal the standard. Since doing so customer service issues and questions on setup and the arm have totally dropped off.

Not exactly accurate. We have shifted the primary tonearm paradigm to a gimbal type bearing.  This was from user feedback from both customers, reviewers, and users at shows.  In fact, when we made gimbal arms the standard we saw a dramatic decrease in customer service setup issues.  Gimbals are simply easier to work with. That being said, uni pivot is still a production option that can be order with your VPI. Thanks for posting about this!

Hey Sam, as long as you have tension on your belt you are in good shape. There are a lot of thoughts and different approaches people have used over the years. I can't say they are all the best or the worse but all different ways of getting the platter spinning.

We always used a set screw so you could really wrench down on locking in the counter weight. However, it wasn't as easy for adjustability which led to eventually using the thumb screw. Regardless both approaches work and will lock in your counter weight to keep your tracking force accurate.

We certainly hope so! It has been a never ending project but on the road to production.

Glad we have everything back on the right track! I think a lot of companies forget these products are an investment and when someone isn't feeling good about something on that product their experience is important and valid. It was a fantastic table! It experienced some minor supplier issues that led to a number of gimbal bearing havign some qc issues. When the issues were resolved it was clear at the time the dealership wasn't filled with excitment. We moved in another direction but the Traveler was always close to my heart being greated in honor of my mom. 😊
