Harvard gets a VPI High-End Education

We recently had an exciting and meaningful experience hosting an educational event at Harvard, built around a simple but powerful idea—bringing the world of high-end audio directly into the classroom. The concept, originally sparked by our friends at FutureAudiophile, was to expose students to both the technology and the people behind the industry, giving them a real taste of what “high-end” truly means.
It came together naturally, as many brands in our industry share a passion not just for building exceptional equipment, but for educating and inspiring the next generation of listeners—what we like to call “future audiophiles.”

During the event, students had the opportunity to experience a wide range of recordings across multiple formats, with a special focus on vinyl playback through the VPI Avenger turntable. Being able to demonstrate the nuance and emotional impact of analog in a classroom setting was especially rewarding. Coming from an academic background myself, and currently teaching as a Business Technology Adjunct Professor at Monmouth University, it felt like a perfect intersection of my two worlds—education and high-end audio.

We were also fortunate to have Luca Chesky join us, who represents exactly the kind of forward-thinking energy the industry needs. As a student at Carnegie Mellon who has already launched his own line of 3D-printed speakers, Luca embodies the spirit of innovation and curiosity we hoped to inspire. He spoke about his new LC2 speaker.

Additional keynote speakers brought valuable perspectives, covering everything from electrical engineering and sound design to real-world experiences in the audio business. The conversations were further enriched by surprise appearances from respected voices in the industry, including contributors from Secrets of HiFi and Walter Schofield of 3WA, who helped round out the discussion and connect students with even more real-world insight.
Overall, the event was a strong reminder that when you combine great music, great gear, and passionate people, you can create a truly impactful educational experience. More importantly, it showed that the future of high-end audio is bright—especially when we take the time to bring it directly to the next generation.
